Biography

JVB06528_edited.jpg

Soprano Nanette Mans (2000) studied Classical Singing at the Codarts conservatory with baritone Henk Neven. She can often be heard as a soloist in, among other pieces, Bach's Matthew Passion and Johannes Passion, Handel's Messiah, Vivaldi's Gloria and Magnificat, Mendelssohn's Psalm 42 and many cantatas.

Nanette is also very active in chamber music. Since 2018 she forms a soprano-organ duo with organist Gerben Budding and since 2019 a lied duo with pianist Mieke Verduijn and she regularly collaborates with other musicians.

As a soloist, Nanette received masterclasses from Margreet Honig, Christianne Stotijn, Sophie Karthäuser and Marcel Reijans. In addition, she followed the Udo Reinemann International Masterclasses in Brussels together with pianist Mieke Verduijn.

Her passion for singing arose with ensemble singing, so Nanette has a lot of experience in this field and she can often be heard in an ensemble. She currently sings with Vocal Ensemble Piacevole (Gerben Budding), specialized in early music, the Cantores Martini (Remco de Graas) and the Ars Musica Chamber Choir (Patrick van der Linden).

Duo soprano and organ

Nanette Mans (soprano) and Gerben Budding (organist) have been working together as a duo since 2018. They can be heard regularly in the concertante and liturgical practice of St. John's Church in Gouda. The duo developed several thematically related concert programmes, such as a program with early music (including Schütz and Scorzuto), a program with solo cantatas from the 18th century (including Telemann and Bach) and a program with French romantic and modern music (Franck, Vierne and Daan Manneke).

For the passion time they made a program with arias from the St Matthew and St John Passion by Johann Sebastian Bach and parts from the Stabat Mater by Pergolesi. They regularly perform new music of which the ink has barely dried.

Characteristic for the duo is flexibility and adventurousness.
